By:Takumi Hino Despite being the most popular sport in the world, football in Taiwan has a shallow history. However, the Taiwanese government is recently trying to raise the popularity of football in the country. The history of football can trace back to thousands of years ago, since many ancient civilizations such as the Greeks, the Romans, the Aztecs, and the Chinese had football-like sports. These sports involved kicking a ball that was often made out of animal skins or even bladders of sheep and pigs. Although there were many football-like sports in ancient times, many of them did not have standardised rules and they were often very violent. Although football is not as popular in Taiwan as it is in many other countries, it does have a dedicated following, particularly among younger generations and in certain communities. In recent years, pro clubs and the national team are trying to promote the sport by creating pro leagues.

In late February, the Taipei Department of Transportation elected to eliminate Youbike fees for riders for the first thirty minutes of each trip. With about 90% of Youbike trips in the city lasting fewer than 30 minutes, this essentially makes most Youbike trips for Taipei residents free of charge. By 2026, Taipei hopes to add more than 600 docking stations and nearly 11,000 more bikes into the system. By Yesui Batgerel

Walking in crowded cafés with tables congested with laptops and books and seats occupied by backpacks is not an unfamiliar scene in popular coffee chains in Taiwan like Starbucks and Louisa. One might be lucky to find an empty table, but it's often the ones without a power outlet – of course, that would not be a problem if you just want a fresh beverage; however, customers whose primary goal is not to quench their thirsts but rather seek solace in the ambient noise and cozy café atmosphere in the hopes of completing school or business tasks, a power outlet and access to the internet are considered commodities especially if you are planning to prolong your stay.
