In an era defined by globalization, Taiwan is making a bold move to secure its place on the world stage. The “Bilingual 2030 Policy” (2030雙語政策) is an initiative aimed at transforming Taiwan into a bilingual nation by 2030. This ambitious plan seeks to foster linguistic diversity, enhance international competitiveness, and create a more inclusive society for Taiwanese citizens.

At one point or another, we have all googled “that rash” and brought ourselves to believing we had cancer. For years, the majority of health-related Google searches have been those of physical symptoms. In recent years however, this trend has shifted and many more people seem to be relying on the internet for their mental health diagnoses. The pandemic put many in isolation with nothing but time to focus on thoughts and behaviours as well as the plethora of new stressors, many slipping down the dangerous slope of depression and anxiety disorders. This led to a massive jump, in an already upward trend, of mental health awareness. Unfortunately, this increase in awareness has proven itself to not be entirely positive as it leads to considerably more cases of self-diagnosis. |
