About the Driver Have you read The Motorcycle Diary, a story about two idealistic young men’s motorcycle adventures around South America? This book was written by Che Guevara, the revolutionary hero of Cuba, but a similar story might be told about a middle aged professor right here at NTU. It concerns Prof. Sy-Shyan Chen of the department of political science, famous for his free style lectures on political ideology. It’s hard to tell a book by his cover, and Prof. Chen might not seem like the type to have experienced such an incredible journey. Tanned, tall, and with a thundering voice, what impresses people most is his beard. His laugh reminds me of a Viking pirate, and when he’s deep in thought he looks like the famous statue, The Thinker.
