By Andrea Parra Choy For many people, Santa Claus, decorating a Christmas tree, listening to Carols, going to family reunions, and having big meals and are the symbols and rituals that represent Christmas. Without these things it would not be Christmas for us, but it is not like this for everyone. Even if the holiday is attached to Christianity, it has grown into a cultural phenomenon that is celebrated by non-Christians around the globe. So having 196 countries in the world, and 7 billion people with different traditions and backgrounds, have you ever wondered what makes Christmas celebrations different in every country? Here are some weird and interesting symbols people in different countries use to celebrate their Christmas holidays.
These are only some of the many traditions that different people in different places share. Despite the commercial character of Christmas today, no matter how we celebrate it or what traditions we follow, the idea of the celebration should remain the same: it should embrace kindness, compassion, joy, acceptance, and love. a
